Are white fillings as strong as amalgam?
Modern composite resins are durable and suitable for most filling situations, including back teeth. For very large restorations in high-load areas, Dr Jun may recommend an inlay, onlay, or crown as a more robust alternative.
Is the procedure painful?
Before any preparation starts, a local anaesthetic is used to numb the tooth, ensuring the procedure is pain-free. Some mild sensitivity in the days following is normal and settles on its own.
Do I need to replace my old silver fillings?
Not necessarily. Amalgam fillings that are intact and not causing problems can often be left in place and monitored. If a filling is cracked or leaking, or if the nearby tooth is showing damage, replacement may be necessary. Dr Jun will let you know at your check-up.
